The opposition All People’s Congress has called for “action beyond dialogue” following a high-level meeting with President Julius Maada Bio at State House on Tuesday, 5 May 2026.
An APC delegation met the President in Freetown for what both sides described as a constructive engagement on national stability and democratic consolidation.
The party said discussions reaffirmed commitments to three key frameworks: the 8-Point Communiqué backed by International Moral Guarantors, the Tripartite Committee Recommendations, and the Agreement for National Unity. The APC described the accords as critical to restoring public trust, strengthening governance, and deepening accountability.
While welcoming the dialogue as a positive step, the APC stressed that meetings with the government must produce tangible results for ordinary Sierra Leoneans and “move beyond formal symbolism.”
The party also sought to reassure its base that engaging the President does not compromise its opposition role. It pledged to remain vigilant in holding the government to account while contributing constructively to national development and unity.
The State House talks form part of wider efforts to implement post-election agreements and rebuild political trust among key governance stakeholders.
