Sierra Leone has renewed its pledge to uphold international disarmament efforts after Ambassador Philip Bob Jusu formally presented his credentials to the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons in The Hague.
Ambassador Jusu, who also serves as Sierra Leone’s envoy to Belgium, was received by OPCW Director-General Fernando Arias at the organization’s headquarters. During the meeting, Arias underscored the need for strengthened global cooperation to counter emerging security threats amid rapid technological advances. He acknowledged that multilateral bodies face mounting pressure but stressed that the OPCW remains focused on collective security and preventing the re-emergence of chemical weapons.
In his remarks, Ambassador Jusu emphasized that every nation, regardless of size, has a role in safeguarding peace through shared responsibility and partnership. He assured the Director-General of Sierra Leone’s steadfast support for the OPCW’s mandate.
“We offer our commitment, our partnership, and our collective resolve in support of this important mission,” Jusu said.
The presentation of credentials marks a continuation of Sierra Leone’s engagement with key international institutions tasked with advancing peace and security.
