The Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone has updated civil society groups on steps taken to implement electoral reforms and strengthen democratic accountability.

At a meeting this week, ECSL met with CSOs working on governance, accountability, women’s empowerment, persons with disabilities, and youth development. The discussions centered on the Commission’s role in carrying out recommendations from the Cross-Party Committee, commonly known as the Tripartite process.

Officials said ECSL is the lead institution for 55 of the 80 election-related recommendations. They reviewed progress made so far and outlined plans for disposing of obsolete electoral materials as part of efforts to streamline operations.

The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and inclusive engagement, saying sustained collaboration with civil society is key to building public trust in Sierra Leone’s electoral system.

Participants welcomed the briefing and called for continued dialogue as the reform process moves forward.
