A Turkish business delegation held talks in Freetown on Monday, 18 May 2026, to assess investment prospects in Sierra Leone’s agriculture and infrastructure sectors.

The delegation, led by Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Turkey, Francess Virgina Anderson, met with officials at the National Early Warning and Response Mechanism Centre [NEWRMC]. Ambassador Anderson said the government was committed to creating a favorable environment for private sector growth and assured the group of full support from Freetown.

NEWRMC Executive Director Francess A.M. Nyuma briefed the visitors on the centre’s mandate within ECOWARN, established under Article 58 of the 1993 ECOWAS Treaty. She detailed the centre’s work monitoring security, governance, health, crime, and environmental risks, and urged investors to follow established procedures for doing business in the country.

“Reach out to our office for guidance at any stage of the process,” Nyuma said.

Representing TÜRKALLAR, a company active in agriculture, trade, and construction, owner Nihat Ozdogan said Sierra Leone’s fertile land presented clear opportunities for agricultural investment. The firm expressed interest in projects to raise productivity for local farmers and in developing real estate and infrastructure ventures.

“We are impressed by the potential here and want to contribute through practical investments that support food production and infrastructure development,” Ozdogan stated.

The discussions ended with agreement to continue engagement on regulatory requirements and possible partnerships between TÜRKALLAR and Sierra Leonean stakeholders.
