In a bold move to revitalize the All People’s Congress (APC), former Publicity Secretary Cornelius Deveaux has issued a stirring call to action, urging party members to shake off the dust of recent electoral setbacks and unite for the 2028 presidential elections.
Reflecting on the 15 months since the June 24, 2023, elections, Deveaux acknowledged the party’s internal divisions, lack of cohesion, and crippling court cases. He emphasized the need for collective responsibility and accountability, rather than blame-shifting.
“The past 15 months have left us feeling stuck,” Deveaux stated. “If we don’t confront these challenges with sincerity, the 2028 election could slip through our fingers.”
Deveaux highlighted pressing national issues, including rising public debt and corruption, and urged the party to focus on rebuilding credibility as a government-in-waiting.
Reconciliation and unity emerged as central themes in his message. Deveaux criticized the current leadership for failing to foster a spirit of togetherness and called for an end to internal strife.
The former Publicity Secretary emphasized the importance of internal democracy, fair practices, and ethical conduct. “A party that fails to practice internal democracy cannot guarantee national democracy,” he noted.
Deveaux concluded with a rallying cry: “Every setback is an opportunity for a comeback. It’s time for the APC to define a new path forward, one that leads to transformational leadership and success in 2028.”
His call to action has sparked hope among APC loyalists, who see this as a chance to revitalize the party and reclaim its place in Sierra Leone’s political landscape.
