‘Doti Mus Go’ Workers Demand Unpaid Wages, Accuse FCC of Project Mismanagement

Workers engaged under the Freetown City Council’s ‘Doti Mus Go’ sanitation project have called on authorities to intervene over alleged non-payment of salaries, claiming the initiative was suspended abruptly without explanation.

The workers allege that the six-month program, which began in November 2025, was halted after just one month of operation. According to them, they completed the first phase of work but have not received wages owed under their engagement terms.

They further allege that funds earmarked for salaries were mismanaged. The allegation has not been independently verified.

“We worked for one month and the project just stopped. No one told us why,” one of the affected workers said. “We are asking government and the relevant oversight bodies to investigate what happened to the money and to pay us for the remaining five months in our contract.”

The group is urging the Ministry of Local Government, the Anti-Corruption Commission, and other relevant authorities to probe the management of the project’s finances and facilitate payment of outstanding wages.

The ‘Doti Mus Go’ initiative was launched by FCC as part of efforts to improve sanitation and create short-term employment in the capital.

As of press time, the Freetown City Council had not issued a public response to the claims. Daily Scope will report any official statement from the Council or relevant agencies when it becomes available.

It should be noted that the allegations contained in this report remain unverified.
