The Family Support Unit of the Sierra Leone Police has engaged 35 Junior Police Officers and NCO Crime Officers from the Freetown East Region in a strategic meeting aimed at improving professionalism and the effective management of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence cases.
The session was led by FSU Head, Superintendent Mohamed S.Y. Mansaray, and chaired by Freetown East Regional Coordinator, D/ASP Josephine Y. Khani. Discussions centered on discipline, accountability, adherence to Standard Operating Procedures, and service delivery.
Regional Police Commander for Freetown East, AIG Brima Kanneh, commended the FSU leadership for the initiative, stressing that integrity, teamwork, and quality service are essential to building public confidence in the police.
Superintendent Mansaray, in his keynote address, urged officers to remain committed and professional. He warned that corruption, including the solicitation of money from victims, would not be tolerated. He also highlighted ongoing collaboration with the UNDP to strengthen FSU SOPs and investigative standards, and announced an upcoming staff rotation to promote fairness and career development.
FSU Operations Officer, D/ASP Abu Bakarr Kanu, emphasized strict compliance with FSU procedures and the Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment Act during investigations.
Officers concluded the engagement with a commitment to uphold ethical policing and impartial handling of all complaints.
