FREETOWN — Two men have been remanded to prison after appearing before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2 over an alleged $10,700 vehicle fraud.
Mohamed Musa, 64, and Yankuba Koroma, 27, are facing charges of conspiracy to defraud and obtaining money by false pretences. Both did not enter a plea as the matter is being handled as a committal proceeding.
Prosecutors allege that between March 4 and April 16, 2026, the accused conspired to defraud complainant Mohamed Koroma. They reportedly told him they had a white AME-Coupe vehicle for sale in Conakry, Guinea.
The court heard that the pair allegedly collected $10,700 from the complainant by falsely claiming the vehicle existed, when they knew the claim was untrue.
Prosecutor Sergeant Florence Wilson told the court that the defence had been served with copies of the police case file.
Citing the seriousness of the charges, Magistrate Fornah denied bail and ordered the two men remanded in custody.
The matter was adjourned to September 3, 2026, for further proceedings.
