A young man identified as Bello has been allegedly murdered inside his apartment in Kono on Sunday, September 13, 2026, by an attacker who reportedly disguised himself as a woman.
According to preliminary reports, the unidentified suspect allegedly dressed as a woman to gain access to Bello’s apartment before launching a brutal attack that left him critically injured.
Police were alerted shortly after the incident but the suspect had reportedly fled the scene before officers arrived. Bello was later confirmed dead.
Initial accounts suggest the killing may have been linked to a longstanding rivalry between the deceased and the suspect over a woman, though police say the exact motive is yet to be established.
Police sources say investigations have been launched to identify and apprehend the suspect and to establish the full circumstances surrounding the murder.
The incident has sparked shock and concern among residents in Kono, with members of the local community and sports fraternity calling for a thorough investigation and for justice to be served.
Police have assured residents that efforts are underway to track down the suspect.
