Thursday, September 17, 2026 — President Julius Maada Bio has received the Day 200 progress report on Government’s 300 Days of Activism health campaign, with official figures showing a significant decline in maternal and child deaths and major gains in child immunization.

Health Minister Austin Demby, PhD, MPH, and Deputy Minister 2 Jalikatu Mustapha presented the report to the President at State House as the campaign entered its final 100 days.

According to the Ministry of Health, maternal deaths have fallen by 31.3 percent, while child deaths have declined by 11.7 percent during the period under review.

The campaign has also surpassed its target for identifying zero-dose children — children who have not received any routine vaccinations — reaching 102 percent of its initial target, with health teams discovering additional unvaccinated children beyond the original estimate.

The Ministry estimates that the combined interventions have helped avert 399 maternal and child deaths since the campaign began.

Launched under President Bio’s health agenda, the 300 Days of Activism is built around three targets: zero preventable maternal deaths, zero preventable child deaths, and zero zero-dose children.

Recent interventions include increased supplies of essential medicines and reproductive health commodities, improved hospital sanitation and infection prevention, and strengthened monitoring of health outcomes.

The Ministry said the Day 200 report places emphasis on real-time data, accountability mechanisms and frontline interventions to close gaps and tackle preventable causes of death.
