Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 1 has remanded Mohamed Sesay on multiple charges, including threatening to murder his mother, Kadiatu Mansaray, and making threats to burn down her house.
Sesay is currently facing three counts of charges related to an incident that allegedly occurred on September 27, 2024, at approximately 8:00 PM on Freeman Drive, Imatt, Freetown. According to the charge sheet, he allegedly threatened to kill his mother and destroy her property while using disparaging language intended to provoke a breach of the peace.
During the proceedings, Inspector Sellub T.A.P. presented the prosecution’s first witness, Kadiatu Mansaray, who confirmed that the accused is her son. She testified that on the night in question, Sesay’s threats caused her significant distress and shame.
The defense counsel sought bail, arguing that the charges were bailable and suggesting that Sesay, a family man, could resolve the matter amicably outside of court. However, Magistrate Kekura denied the bail application, expressing concerns that Sesay might interfere with the witness, given that they reside together.
The case has been adjourned until November 6, 2024.
