The Deputy Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Augustine Foday Ngobie, welcomed members of the Past Present Women Police Association (PPWPA) to Integrity House in Tower Hill, Freetown, on November 7, 2024. The delegation, led by retired Chief Superintendent of Police Aiesha Bangura, aimed to express their support for the ACC’s mission to combat corruption and discuss potential collaboration opportunities.

During the meeting, Mrs. Bangura highlighted the crucial role police officers play in promoting accountability and integrity, values they upheld throughout their careers. She praised Deputy Commissioner Ngobie for his distinguished service in both the Sierra Leone Police and the ACC. “Our skills remain sharp, and we are eager to contribute to this noble cause,” she affirmed, emphasizing the members’ extensive experience in intelligence and investigative work, which they offered as valuable assets in the ongoing fight against corruption. Elizabeth Turay, Chief Adviser of the PPWPA and a former Deputy Inspector General of Police, echoed this sentiment, stating, “We have witnessed the destructive impact of corruption and are committed to helping combat it.”

In response, Deputy Commissioner Ngobie expressed gratitude for their support and reflected on his own career, recalling fond memories from his time in the Police Force, which he noted laid the foundation for his work at the ACC. He assured the delegation that their offers of assistance would be communicated to Commissioner Francis Ben Kaifala Esq. and expressed optimism about exploring collaboration avenues. Ngobie also made a personal donation to the Association, which was warmly received by the retired officers. The visit concluded with prayers for the continued success of the ACC and its leadership, symbolizing a shared commitment to advancing integrity and combating corruption in Sierra Leone.
