A teacher at Kehklee-Lakkoh Memorial Agricultural Secondary School (KMASS) in Tonkolili District, Mohamed Fornah, has been charged with embezzling school funds.

Fornah was responsible for collecting pupil admission fees for the 2024–2025 academic year, which included charges for uniforms and other items, totaling 23,180 NLe. However, he only accounted for 6,200 NLe, leaving a discrepancy of 16,980 NLe unaccounted for.

The school administration, facing financial difficulties due to delayed government subventions, became suspicious and reported the matter to the Mile 91 Police Station. Following an investigation, Fornah was charged with Fraudulent Conversion of School Funds and is currently in custody as the case proceeds to the Magistrate Court in Magburaka.

This incident has raised concerns about financial accountability in schools, prompting the KMASS administration to review its financial oversight systems to prevent similar occurrences in the future. The educational community is closely monitoring the case, hoping it will establish a standard for financial transparency in schools across Sierra Leone.
