Sierra Leone’s Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, emphasized his commitment to advocating for Africa during a press conference held on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. The Minister reported on his recent visit to Denmark, where he urged the Danish government to maintain its pledge of allocating 0.7% of its Gross National Income (GNI) towards international development.

Denmark is recognized as one of the highest per capita spenders on foreign aid, making Minister Bah’s appeal particularly noteworthy. His advocacy comes at a crucial moment, as many leading donor nations are considering cuts to foreign assistance.

While in Denmark, Minister Bah engaged in discussions with key officials, including the Minister of Finance and the Ministers of Development and Foreign Affairs. He also met with leaders from all major political parties in the Danish Parliament. The focus of these meetings was to secure support for development initiatives that not only benefit Africa but also contribute significantly to global security.

Minister Bah’s efforts highlight the importance of sustained international cooperation in addressing development challenges and fostering stability across the continent.
