MBSSE Condemns False Claims About New Curriculum Discontinuation

By Kadijatu Bangura, Reporter D.S

The Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE) has officially condemned recent misinformation circulating on social media regarding the alleged discontinuation of the new curriculum rollout for schools.

The unfounded claim, which emerged earlier this month, stated: “The Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE) wishes to inform all school authorities, educators, and stakeholders that the implementation of the New Curriculum system is hereby discontinued.”

In response, Honourable Minister Mr. Conrad Sackey issued a press statement confirming that he has not authorized any directive to halt the new curriculum or revert to the previous system in preparation for the upcoming West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). The Ministry has labeled these reports as entirely baseless and has expressed strong disapproval.

In an official statement dated May 7, 2025, the MBSSE emphasized that no directive to discontinue the new curriculum has been issued by Minister Sackey or any other officials within the Ministry. They urged the public to treat these fabricated claims with the disdain they deserve.

The MBSSE highlighted the importance of relying on verified and official communications from their office. They called on all educational stakeholders to disregard any unverified information that lacks factual basis and could potentially disrupt the educational environment.
