Hon. Francis Sakila Nyumalin, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Liberia, has provided essential food supplies to families impacted by recent tensions along the Yenga border in Kissi Teng Chiefdom, Kailahun District.

On May 23, 2025, Nyumalin, a native of Foya and a member of the Kissi tribe, traveled from Monrovia to Koindu, Sierra Leone, where he donated 100 bags of 50 kg rice and 50 jerry cans of palm oil, totaling 1,000 liters. The donation was presented at the court barray of Chiefdom Speaker Fallah Jusu.

During his visit, Nyumalin emphasized that he was acting not as a government official but as a private citizen and neighbor. He expressed concern over reports of Kissi families fleeing their homes due to the Yenga situation and felt compelled to provide assistance as the rainy season approaches.

“The Kissi people on both sides of the border share the same heritage and culture, despite being divided by colonial boundaries,” he stated. Nyumalin expressed hope for a peaceful and swift resolution to the Yenga conflict, without resorting to military intervention.

The donated supplies were given to local leaders in Koindu for distribution to affected communities in Yenga and nearby areas.
