TONKOLILI DISTRICT, Sierra Leone — On June 25, 2025, U.S. Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Bryan Hunt, visited the Tonkolili District Council Administration, accompanied by senior embassy staff. The Ambassador met with key council leaders, including Chairperson Yabom Thaslim Sesay and Chief Administrator Edward Alpha, to discuss local governance challenges and opportunities.

Ambassador Hunt underscored the significance of engaging with local governments outside of Freetown, acknowledging the unique circumstances faced by districts like Tonkolili. He commended the Council’s initiatives and expressed interest in potential collaborations to address pressing issues and promote development.

During the meeting, Chairperson Sesay highlighted the Council’s achievements, such as the rehabilitation of Public Health Units, market expansions, and enhanced revenue mobilization.
