President Julius Maada Bio, currently serving as Chairman of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS, engaged in productive talks with European Commissioner Hadja Lahbib regarding the pressing issues facing the Sahel region.
In a public statement, President Bio described the discussions as focused on the urgent challenges affecting Sahelian countries. He emphasized a mutual commitment to collaborate more closely in support of progress in the region.
Commissioner Lahbib, responsible for Equality, Preparedness, and Crisis Management at the European Commission, met with President Bio as part of ongoing efforts to address instability, humanitarian concerns, and cross-border threats in the Sahel. Although no specific next steps were outlined, representatives from both ECOWAS and the EU underscored the importance of enhancing cooperation moving forward.
