The State Department for Lands and Physical Planning convened a nationwide webinar on Thursday, uniting public service officers from across the country to explore strategies aimed at enhancing efficiency and performance in public service delivery.

This initiative follows a directive from Felix Koskei, Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service, emphasizing the necessity for adherence to established performance standards. The circular warned that failure to comply could result in corrective measures and potential disciplinary action.

During the webinar, Principal Secretary Generali Nixon Korir highlighted the department’s past accomplishments while underscoring the critical importance of adhering to service charters, promptly reporting absences, and maintaining accountability in daily responsibilities. He indicated that officers meeting performance benchmarks may be eligible for promotion, while those falling short could face disciplinary consequences.

Secretary of Administration, Mr. Maalim Mohammed, also addressed the participants, advocating for professionalism, the avoidance of conflicts of interest, and strict compliance with administrative protocols.

The discussion covered various challenges impacting public service delivery, including staff conduct, compliance issues, audit queries, and adherence to administrative guidelines.

Attendees included senior officials such as the Directors of Land Adjudication and Settlement, Surveys, Human Resource Management and Development, Supply Chain Management, as well as the Chief Finance Officer, Head of Internal Audit, and Directors of the National Land Information Management System (NLIMS) and Central Planning and Project Monitoring (CPPM).

The department emphasized that the webinar aimed to cultivate a culture of accountability and enhance overall efficiency in public service delivery.
