President Julius Maada Bio has announced the immediate suspension of Honourable Justice Allan B. Halloway from his position as a Judge of the Superior Court of Judicature, pending the results of a disciplinary tribunal.
An official letter from the Office of the President, dated September 15, 2025, indicates that the suspension is in accordance with Section 137(6) of the 1991 Constitution of Sierra Leone. This decision follows the recommendations of the Judicial and Legal Service Commission (JLSC), which convened on September 5, 2025, to address the issue.
The letter states: “I write to convey that His Excellency the President hereby suspends you as Judge of the Superior Court of Judicature with immediate effect until the outcome of a Disciplinary Tribunal instituted to investigate your conduct.”
Additionally, the JLSC has ordered that Justice Halloway be barred from performing his judicial duties effective September 2025, in alignment with the President’s directive.
