FREETOWN โ The National Communications Authority (NatCA) has set November 1, 2026, as the final deadline for all mobile subscribers in Sierra Leone to link their SIM cards to their National Identification Numbers (NINs), warning that failure to comply will result in deactivation.
In a public notice issued on Tuesday, 20th October 2026, NatCA said it has directed all mobile network operators and mobile money operators to deactivate or disconnect subscribers who fail to complete the SIM-NIN integration by the deadline.
The Authority stated that the directive is part of efforts to strengthen national identity management, enhance security, and combat fraud and other crimes linked to unregistered or improperly registered SIM cards.
NatCA urged all subscribers who are yet to comply to urgently visit their respective network providers to update their registration details with their valid NINs to ensure uninterrupted service.
According to the notice, subscribers can check their registration status by dialling *999# across all networks.
The Authority warned that any SIM card that remains unlinked after November 1 will be deactivated without further notice.
