In a powerful demonstration of solidarity, victims of the Kush epidemic have joined forces with the Central Youths Organization (C.Y.O) in Kono District to raise awareness and expose those involved in the drug trade. The initiative, which took place in Koidu City, aimed to highlight the devastating impact of Kush on families and young people in the community.

The peaceful march, organized by the C.Y.O, drew participants from various backgrounds, including victims of addiction, community activists, and concerned residents. The demonstrators carried placards and chanted messages of hope and resistance, calling for urgent action to save the district’s youth from the clutches of addiction.

Organizers emphasized that the campaign seeks to empower victims to share their stories and identify individuals profiting from the illegal sale of Kush. “We are breaking the silence surrounding Kush abuse,” stated a C.Y.O leader. “Too long, stigma has allowed this drug to spread unchecked.”

Leaders from the C.Y.O commended the bravery of victims who spoke out about their experiences, urging government authorities, security agencies, and community elders to take coordinated action against drug supply networks and to enhance rehabilitation efforts.

“This is not just a protest; it’s a cry for help and change,” one leader declared. “Our youths are dying, and our communities cannot remain silent any longer.”

This event represents a significant turning point in Koidu’s battle against Kush, marking the beginning of a grassroots movement driven by the community’s determination to reclaim their neighborhoods from addiction and restore hope for a healthier future.
