Freetown, Sierra Leone Fourah Bay College (FBC), part of the University of Sierra Leone, has initiated a formal investigation into serious allegations of misconduct leveled against part-time law lecturer, Honorable Justice Momoh Jah-Stevens.

The allegations, including sexual harassment and corruption, were brought to light by Ms. Edwina Jamiru, a second-year student in the Legal Studies Programme within the Faculty of Law.

In a press release dated November 10, 2025, and signed by Deputy Registrar Brima Bah, the university underscored its commitment to addressing the claims, stating that it takes such matters “very seriously.” FBC reiterated its “zero-tolerance policy” towards harassment, abuse, and misconduct, and confirmed that a comprehensive investigation is being conducted by the College Discipline Committee.

However, the university also expressed concerns regarding Ms. Jamiru’s decision to publicly air the allegations on social media, labeling her actions as “contemptuous and unproductive.” The statement cautioned that such behavior could potentially tarnish the institution’s reputation. Consequently, Ms. Jamiru has been directed to communicate all future concerns through the Deputy Registrar’s Office in writing, rather than through public channels.

While the investigation is underway, the university has announced that the contract of Honorable Justice Stevens, who also holds the position of Associate Lecturer in the LLB Degree Programme, is currently under review.

FBC has referred Ms. Jamiru to professional support services, including counseling, and encourages all students to report misconduct through official avenues, assuring them that their concerns will be treated with confidentiality.
