Freetown – December 2, 2025 – Hon. Dickson Momoh Rogers, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Transport and Aviation, has presented a comprehensive report to Parliament aimed at fostering a more efficient and resilient transport ecosystem in Sierra Leone. The report follows a high-level stakeholders engagement held on June 4, 2025, at the Atlantic Hotel, Lumley Beach Road.
The forum convened key players, including senior government officials, parliamentary leaders, regulatory agencies, private-sector operators, civil society organizations, and development partners, creating a strategic platform for dialogue and collaboration on the current and future state of the transport and aviation sector.
Key discussion themes included digital transformation in logistics, sustainable aviation fuels, green technologies, smart infrastructure development, and public-private partnerships (PPPs). Participants acknowledged progress across various sub-sectors while also identifying persistent challenges that demand immediate policy intervention.
A central message from the discussions was the necessity for a strengthened collaborative framework, with PPPs highlighted as crucial for innovation, modernization, and sustainable financing. Participants underscored the need to enhance regulatory oversight, improve safety standards across transport modes, and accelerate the adoption of technology to align Sierra Leone with global best practices.
The resulting report outlines proceedings, insights, and recommendations, urging Parliament to address financing barriers, support advanced technologies, reinforce institutional coordination, and ensure that transport initiatives significantly contribute to national development goals.
The report is now awaiting consideration in Parliament, marking a vital step toward establishing an integrated, sustainable, and resilient transport system for Sierra Leone.
