The Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) has paid a regulatory fine of One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Leones (NLe 150,000) to the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) following incendiary remarks made by its Northern Region Public Relations Officer, Wusu Dadidah Jalloh. The payment was made on Thursday, December 4, 2025.
The fine, imposed on November 25, 2025, stemmed from comments made by Jalloh during a broadcast on November 24. According to reports, the PPRC deemed his statements “incendiary and inciting,” violating Section 39(1)(d) of the Political Parties Act (No. 25) of 2022. This legislation mandates that political parties ensure their members and supporters engage in lawful activities that do not threaten public peace or incite violence.
In a subsequent press release, the PPRC expressed gratitude to the SLPP for its compliance, urging the party to take additional measures to ensure that its members conduct themselves in accordance with the law. The Commission underscored the importance of adhering to the Political Parties Act, stating that such compliance is vital for fostering a peaceful and democratic political climate in Sierra Leone.
