Mother Allegedly Stabs 10-Year-Old Daughter in Port Loko

A ten-year-old girl, identified as Ismatu Kargbo, is currently hospitalized following an alleged stabbing incident involving her mother in Port Loko Town. The altercation took place at New London along the Kambia Road.

Initial reports indicate that the child was asleep when her mother, identified as Lucy Conteh, allegedly attacked her with a knife, causing a severe injury to her throat. Neighbors and family members rushed to the scene after hearing the child’s distress calls and transported her to the Port Loko Regional Government Hospital.

Medical personnel confirmed that Ismatu arrived in critical condition and underwent emergency surgery. She is now under close medical observation and is showing signs of recovery.

Lucy Conteh has been taken into police custody and is cooperating with investigators. Authorities are conducting inquiries to fully ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The case has sparked public concern regarding child safety and domestic welfare issues. Law enforcement officials have urged the community to remain calm as investigations proceed.
