Businessman and politician Mohammed Omodu Kamara, widely known as APC Jagaban, has pledged to tackle the ongoing ferry crisis in Sierra Leone by acquiring new vessels. This commitment follows a recent incident in which passengers on the ferry from Lungi to Freetown experienced distress when the vessel broke down shortly after departure.
Jagaban stated, “Do not worry; I will put the ferry issue in the past. I will focus on acquiring new ferries because the current ones in Freetown are a death trap.” His remarks highlight the rising concerns surrounding ferry safety, particularly after eyewitness accounts detailed a sudden mechanical failure that caused the vessel to stop abruptly, leaving passengers anxious and frustrated.
Many passengers expressed their disappointment over the breakdown, citing significant safety concerns and the inconvenience it caused. The abrupt nature of the malfunction left many feeling frightened during the journey. Jagaban’s promises aim to address these urgent issues and enhance the ferry service for the people of Sierra Leone.
