Freetown – In a significant development for healthcare in Sierra Leone, First Lady H.E. Fatima Maada Bio has successfully secured support from Turkey for the construction of a new hospital in Bo. This follows her recent visit to Turkey, where she appealed to Turkish First Lady H.E. Emine Erdoğan for assistance.
The proposal has been warmly received, marking a crucial step towards enhancing healthcare access for the people of Bo and its surrounding areas.
Today, First Lady Bio hosted Turkish Ambassador to Sierra Leone, H.E. Yusuf Burak Rende, along with TİKA Country Director for Sierra Leone, Mr. Mirzet Muezzinoglu, to discuss the plans for the new medical center. In reflecting on her outreach efforts, she stated, “Whenever I travel out of the country, my heart remains with my people, my women, my girls, and my children.”
The upcoming healthcare facility is poised to significantly improve medical services in Bo and provide essential support to vulnerable populations in the region.
