Government Secures 3,500 Hajj Slots for 2026 Following Saudi Commendation

Sierra Leone has made significant strides in its Hajj preparations by securing a quota of 3,500 slots for the upcoming 2026 season. This achievement comes after commendation from the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which praised Sierra Leone for adhering to all required benchmarks.

During an official visit, Dr. Badr Muhammad Al Solami, Adviser to the Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah, lauded Sierra Leone’s exemplary compliance and readiness. His remarks were met with enthusiasm from representatives of various nations, underscoring Sierra Leone’s growing credibility in managing Hajj affairs.

Dr. Al Solami highlighted the stellar leadership of Alhaji Murtada Sesay, Chairman of the Presidential Taskforce on Hajj, alongside the efforts of Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, His Excellency Mohammed Barrie. He described their contributions as instrumental in positioning Sierra Leone favorably within the realm of international pilgrimage management. The Saudi official encouraged other countries to adopt Sierra Leone’s model of organization and accountability.

This allocation of 3,500 pilgrimage slots signifies a pivotal enhancement in Sierra Leone’s Hajj administration, reflecting the government’s dedication to improving the pilgrimage experience for its citizens.
