The Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs has announced plans to roll out an Artificial Intelligence-driven tourism initiative aimed at modernising the country’s travel sector and expanding its global visibility.
Speaking ahead of the signing ceremony, Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs Nabeela Farida Tunis said the increasing global use of AI and big data presents a major opportunity to transform the tourism industry.
According to project lead Royo, the first phase will focus on integrating an AI Trip Planner into the Ministry’s website. The tool is designed to offer intelligent trip-planning services, simplify travel arrangements for visitors, and promote curated tourism packages.
The platform will also work to increase the country’s tourism profile in key international markets across the Americas, Europe, and Asia, while enhancing destination visibility online.
Beyond visitor services, the initiative will generate tourism data to support policy development and sector planning.
Royo further disclosed that citizens will receive specialised training to manage and sustain the AI platform. The training is expected to create opportunities for future expansion into other digital and AI applications.
The Ministry says the project forms part of broader efforts to position the country as a competitive and data-driven tourism destination.
