Freetown, Sierra Leone – The Digital Services and Technology Initiative (DSTI) is set to unveil a revolutionary Digital Regulatory Platform on Monday, July 14, 2025, at the Lagoonda Complex, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The event will be graced by the Honourable Minister of Health, who will formally launch the platform aimed at transforming the management and regulation of nursing and midwifery programs in the country.
This innovative platform is poised to enhance the regulation and licensing of nursing and midwifery professionals, who constitute over 80% of Sierra Leone’s health workforce. By streamlining administrative processes and improving transparency, the platform is expected to support evidence-based decision-making in workforce planning.
Officials have hailed this initiative as a significant milestone in Sierra Leone’s efforts toward digital health governance. The platform will not only reduce bureaucratic bottlenecks but also facilitate ongoing professional development tracking, thereby improving accountability within the health sector.
DSTI emphasizes that this initiative aligns with the government’s broader vision to harness technology for national development, particularly in pivotal areas such as health. The launch represents a proactive step toward modernizing healthcare management in Sierra Leone, promising enhanced efficiency and effectiveness in regulatory functions.
