The All Peoples Congress (APC) has summoned an emergency meeting of its elected officials and members of the National Advisory Committee (NAC) to discuss developments surrounding the proposed appointment of Edmond Sylvester Alpha as Chief Electoral Commissioner and Chairman of the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL).

In a public notice dated 23 February 2026, the party said the session will bring together NAC members, regional and district chairmen, Members of Parliament, mayors and council chairpersons, and councillors from across the country. The notice states the NAC will meet immediately after the broader deliberations to consider and approve any resolutions arising from the discussions.

The meeting will also review and approve recommendations for additional Independent Electoral Commission Board (IECB) members to replace those reported delinquent in attendance, the APC said.

The emergency meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, 24 February 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the APC Party Headquarters, We Yone Building, Old Railway Line, Freetown. Attendance is described as mandatory, and the party has urged all designated officials to be present and punctual, citing the meeting’s “critical national and institutional importance.”

The public notice was signed by APC National Secretary-General Lansana Dumbuya and released from the party’s headquarters in Freetown.
