Life Imprisonment for Murder: Court Delivers Justice in Kailahun

By Mohamed Mansaray, Kenema
On November 6, 2025, the High Court in Kailahun Town delivered a life sentence to Samai Lansana after he was found guilty of murder. Hon. Justice Abdul Sheriff presided over the case, which involved the fatal stabbing of Lansana’s stepfather on September 11, 2023, in Bandajuma village, located in the Luawa Chiefdom of Sierra Leone’s Eastern Province.

State Counsel Daniel P. Mansaray outlined the severity of the crime, prompting Justice Sheriff to impose the maximum penalty due to its aggravating circumstances.

In a separate ruling, magistrate Hadiru Daboh sentenced Mohamed Moseray, a petty trader residing in Simbeck Section, Kenema City, to two years in prison for false pretenses. This ruling followed Moseray’s guilty plea regarding an incident on June 10, 2024, when he deceived Jenneh Fomba into paying NLe 4,500 under the pretense of selling a pot.

Magistrate Daboh emphasized the importance of accountability in fraudulent activities, resulting in Moseray’s imprisonment at the Sierra Leone Correctional Centre in Kenema.
