The Bo Division Police have successfully intercepted a significant shipment of cannabis sativa, consisting of fifty-two bundles and one hundred thirty-three parcels, concealed in a Toyota vehicle with the registration number ATR 223.

Chief Superintendent Joseph Kamara, the Local Unit Commander of Bo West Division, reported that the police received intelligence indicating the vehicle was carrying contraband. Acting on this information, they pursued the vehicle until they successfully apprehended it, although the driver managed to escape.

“The vehicle and the cannabis are currently secured at the Regional Garage,” Kamara confirmed. He noted that upon receiving the intelligence, he coordinated with his counterpart in Kenema, who provided reinforcements that facilitated the interception near Kenema.

Chief Superintendent Alphonzo Fambuleh, the Local Unit Commander of Kenema Division, highlighted the importance of effective collaboration in ensuring the success of the operation. He urged the community to maintain their confidence in the police, emphasizing their commitment to public service.

Fambuleh encouraged citizens to continue providing vital information, reinforcing that police effectiveness relies on community engagement. He concluded, “The driver refused to stop when ordered, which raised our suspicion that contraband goods were likely hidden inside the vehicle.”
