Freetown, August 19, 2025 — Sierra Leone Brewery Limited (SLBL), a subsidiary of Heineken, has officially agreed to transfer its ownership to Sierra Bottling Group (SBG), part of the African Bottling Group Limited (ABG). This transition follows a series of consultative meetings involving the brewery’s management, the Ministry of Employment, Labour and Social Security, and the Sierra Leone Labour Congress.
On August 19, Minister of Employment, Alpha Swaray, addressed the workforce at the SLBL canteen, emphasizing the government’s commitment to facilitating a smooth transition while ensuring fairness and social justice for all employees. He assured the workforce that all end-of-service benefits and legal entitlements, as outlined in the Employment Act, will be disbursed within the designated timeline.
Minister Swaray encouraged employees to remain proactive during this transition period, expressing confidence in their contributions to the company’s future. Management representatives pledged their commitment to adhere to all relevant labour laws throughout the process, aiming to maintain industrial peace and harmony.
This ownership change marks a significant development for the brewery and its employees, as stakeholders work together to ensure a seamless transition.
