In a candid statement following the recent SLPP National Delegates Conference, Fatima Maada Bio, the First Lady of Sierra Leone, clarified that her involvement in politics has never been about seeking titles or public acclaim. “My journey in Sierra Leone’s politics has never been about titles or applause. It has always been about mission,” she asserted, highlighting her dedication to the nation over personal recognition.
Reflecting on her political journey, Fatima Bio outlined her unwavering commitment to two primary objectives: supporting her husband’s presidency and ensuring the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) remains in power beyond the 2028 elections. “I have faced numerous obstacles over the years, both in the political arena and on a personal level,” she noted, emphasizing that her dedication to these missions has tested her strength and resilience. “To remain faithful to these missions, I have crossed rivers, climbed mountains, and braved jungles—both the political kind and the human kind,” she elaborated, illustrating the extent of her determination.
Fatima Bio also addressed her multifaceted role as not just a political figure, but as a woman, a partner, and a human being. Despite her experience in public life, she acknowledged the emotional toll it can take. “I am not an angel. I am human.
