The National Revenue Authority has announced a temporary three-day shutdown of the Cargo Terminal at Freetown International Airport as part of security and logistical preparations for the upcoming ECOWAS Mid-Year Summit.

In a public notice issued on Wednesday, 9th July 2026, the NRA said all cargo handling and terminal operations will be suspended from Friday, 17th July to Sunday, 19th July 2026. During this period, the terminal will be closed to importers, exporters, clearing agents and other stakeholders.

The Authority explained that the measure is necessary to facilitate security protocols and operational arrangements for the regional summit which Sierra Leone will host.

The NRA acknowledged the potential disruption to businesses that depend on cargo services and appealed for patience and cooperation from clients and the general public.

“Normal cargo handling services and terminal operations will resume on Monday, 20th July 2026,” the Authority stated.

Stakeholders requiring further information have been advised to contact the NRA customer service line on +232-80-839-839 or email info@nra.gov.sl.
