Opposition Leader Abdul Kargbo Denounces Drug Trafficking Claims by Gambia and Liberia

Honourable Abdul Kargbo has vehemently rejected allegations from The Gambia and Liberia suggesting that Sierra Leone is a transit point for drug trafficking

Freetown – Opposition leader Honourable Abdul Kargbo has vehemently rejected allegations from The Gambia and Liberia suggesting that Sierra Leone is a transit point for drug trafficking. Speaking in Parliament yesterday, Kargbo condemned the claims as “creating a false picture” of the nation.

“Sierra Leone is not responsible for drugs in The Gambia or Liberia,” Kargbo asserted, expressing his frustration over the allegations. The debate turned heated as he insisted that neighboring countries should not tarnish Sierra Leone’s reputation without substantial evidence.

Kargbo highlighted a recent incident involving a vehicle belonging to an embassy in Guinea, which was seized with cocaine. “We cannot remain silent about that. They are the ones tarnishing the image of this country. We must take a stand against those spreading false accusations,” he said, calling for decisive action.

His remarks come amid rising regional concerns over cross-border drug trafficking and increased efforts by Sierra Leonean authorities to secure national borders.
