Panic Erupts at Tombo Junction as Electricity Pole Collapses

By Joseph Momoh, Reporter, D.S.

TOMBO JUNCTION, WATERLOO—A sudden and alarming incident unfolded today when an electricity pole belonging to the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) collapsed unexpectedly, leaving nearby residents and vendors in a state of panic.

Eyewitnesses reported that the pole fell while power was still coursing through its wires, which subsequently made contact with the ground. This created a hazardous situation, prompting throngs of pedestrians and roadside sellers to flee for safety. Several individuals who were in close proximity to the pole at the time sustained injuries and were promptly transported to a local hospital by bystanders who acted swiftly to assist.

The incident has reignited concerns among residents regarding the aging infrastructure of EDSA. Locals in Waterloo and surrounding areas have long voiced apprehensions about the condition of electric poles, many of which are old, deteriorating, or visibly leaning. Community members fear that today’s event could have resulted in a far more tragic outcome, particularly in such a densely populated area as Tombo Junction.
