President Dr. Julius Maada Bio and Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh on Thursday led a final assessment tour of the newly completed President Julius Maada Bio International Conference Centre in Lungi, as Sierra Leone prepares to host the 69th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government.

The presidential delegation inspected key facilities within the complex, including the main conference hall, Presidential Hall, Presidential and Ministerial lounges, Banquet Hall, multiple meeting rooms, and a modern auditorium equipped with retractable seating for more than 500 delegates.

During the tour, Vice President Jalloh briefed Cabinet Ministers and senior officials on protocol arrangements for receiving ECOWAS leaders, delegates, and other invited guests. He stressed the need for tight coordination on security, logistics, and guest management to ensure a seamless hosting of the regional summit.

The team also reviewed the operational readiness of the centre, focusing on technical systems, security deployment, transport logistics, and overall compliance with international standards for high-level engagements.

Government officials described the inspection as the last phase of preparation ahead of the facility’s official commissioning and the ECOWAS summit scheduled to take place in the country.

The visit signals the government’s commitment to delivering a successful regional meeting and showcasing Sierra Leone’s capacity to host major international events at the state-of-the-art Lungi facility.

The 69th ECOWAS Summit is expected to bring together West African Heads of State to deliberate on regional peace, security, and economic integration.
