SLRSA and Red Cross Partner to Boost Road Safety and Emergency Response

Freetown, Sierra Leone – The Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA) and the Sierra Leone Red Cross Society have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance road safety and emergency response services in the country.

The agreement, signed at the SLRSA headquarters on Kissy Road, outlines a collaborative framework focusing on first aid training, coordinated accident response, and nationwide road safety sensitization campaigns. The partnership aims to improve the effectiveness and timeliness of emergency interventions during road traffic incidents.

Executive Director of SLRSA, James Bagie Bio, stated that the partnership aligns with the Authority’s mandate to reduce road traffic accidents and enhance safety standards nationwide. “Working closely with the Red Cross will help ensure quicker medical assistance for victims while also promoting responsible road use through sustained public education efforts,” he said.

The partnership is expected to enhance coordination between the two institutions and contribute to safer road usage nationwide. Both institutions have reaffirmed their commitment to implementing the agreement and working jointly towards achieving its objectives.

The MOU represents a strategic step towards building a more integrated road safety and emergency response system in Sierra Leone, underscoring national efforts to reduce road traffic fatalities and improve public safety outcomes.
