The discussions took place at the Senior Police Officers’ Mess at Kingtom Police Barracks.

IGP Sellu emphasized the importance of maintaining a robust relationship with the UN, assuring Madam Shen of the Sierra Leone Police’s commitment to ensuring the safety and comfort of UN personnel operating within the country. “We are dedicated to fostering a positive working environment for all UN staff in Sierra Leone,” he stated.

During their discussions, IGP Sellu urged Madam Shen to incorporate the perspectives of the Sierra Leone Police into her security planning, highlighting the ongoing collaborative efforts with the UN Development Programme (UNDP). He expressed gratitude to the outgoing Security Adviser and UNDSS Representative, Mr. Dumba Jatoe, for his commendable service, acknowledging the exceptional security support provided by the Sierra Leone Police during Mr. Jatoe’s tenure across eighteen countries.

Reflecting on the fruitful partnership established over the years, Mr. Jatoe remarked, “Your collaboration with the Sierra Leone Police has been overwhelming.”

IGP Sellu reiterated the Sierra Leone Police’s dedication to reforming its approach from a force-oriented model to a service-oriented institution. He emphasized the need for mutual cooperation to create a safer environment for all, concluding, “Together, we can ensure a secure and peaceful Sierra Leone.”
