A man has been detained by police in Tongo following the death of a woman who allegedly received an injection from an unlicensed practitioner at a health facility on Monday, August 10, 2026.
The deceased, Fatmata M. Ngevao, reportedly died shortly after the injection was administered to her at the Marlin Health Centre by Musa Ngevao.
The incident was reported to police by the victim’s husband, Ibrahim Ngevao. Responding officers, led by Crime Officer D/ASP John Fayia Focko, arrested the suspect at the facility.
According to police, preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect is neither a trained nor licensed medical practitioner. Authorities further allege that he has been administering injections and drugs to members of the public without professional qualifications or approval.
Evidence, including medical materials recovered from the scene, has been secured for analysis. The matter is under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department.
Musa Ngevao remains in custody at Tongo Police Station as inquiries continue.
Police are cautioning the public to seek medical treatment only from certified health professionals.
