Freetown, Sierra Leone – The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS) has taken a significant step towards enhancing agricultural planning and food security with the validation of the 2025/26 National Crop Production Survey. The exercise, held at the ministry’s Conference Hall in Youyi Building, brought together stakeholders to scrutinize and endorse the survey’s findings.

The validation process is a critical component of the survey, allowing stakeholders to review the data, provide input, and reach a consensus on the final results. According to MAFS, this collaborative approach strengthens confidence in the survey’s accuracy and usefulness for national agricultural planning.

The National Crop Production Survey is a vital tool for guiding policy decisions, resource allocation, and interventions aimed at improving productivity and ensuring food security. The ministry has conducted the survey for the second time, underscoring its commitment to data-driven decision-making.

“The validation process reinforces transparency, accuracy, and collective ownership of the data,” said officials from MAFS. The exercise involved government institutions and United Nations agencies, ensuring the survey results are credible and reliable for decision-making.

The official report on the 2025/26 National Crop Production Survey is expected to be released by Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Dr. Henry Musa Kpaka, in the coming weeks. MAFS remains committed to using reliable agricultural statistics to address food security challenges and support sustainable development in Sierra Leone.

The survey’s findings are expected to inform strategies for improving agricultural productivity, enhancing food security, and promoting sustainable development in the country.
