The Klymax Breed Foundation has donated food items worth Le25 million to the Milton Margai School for the Blind, responding to an appeal from the school’s administration to support its daily feeding needs.

The donation, presented on Saturday, May 23, 2026, included 10 bags of 50kg rice, sachets of water, three bags of onions, powdered milk, luncheon meat, and tinned tomatoes. The items were handed over at the school’s Wilkinson Road campus in Freetown.

Program Manager Akiwumi Benjamin said the foundation acted swiftly after hearing the headmaster’s public appeal for assistance. He noted that supporting vulnerable learners aligns with the foundation’s commitment to give back to the community.

Headmaster Sallieu Turay thanked the foundation on behalf of staff and pupils, saying the contribution would directly improve the welfare of students who rely on three meals a day. He explained that the 70-year-old institution provides education for visually impaired children and has produced many prominent Sierra Leoneans despite ongoing challenges.

Turay also highlighted the school’s operational needs, including daily fuel use for transporting pupils to various secondary schools in Freetown. He appealed to other organizations and well-wishers to support the school’s work.

Alhaji Sanusi Bah, representing Klymax Breed Foundation, said the organization, formed in 2024 by past and present students of Fourah Bay College, views the donation as the start of an ongoing partnership. He pledged that similar support would continue annually.

The event, chaired by David Williams, featured the official handover of items, prayers, the singing of the school song and national pledge, and a special rendition titled “It is only the beginning of our love.” Senior Prefect Jariatu Sesay delivered the vote of thanks.

The school is preparing to mark its 70th anniversary, and officials said the foundation’s involvement will form part of the celebrations.
