Teacher Expresses Frustration Over Two Decades of Service Without Government PIN Code

In a viral video shared on Facebook, Samuel Mohamed, a dedicated teacher, voiced his frustration after twenty years of service without receiving a government teaching PIN code from the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education. Despite holding an education certificate from Njala University in Bo, he remains unrecognized as a civil servant.

Mr. Mohamed’s experience resonates with many educators who have labored for years without proper compensation. “I have taught for two decades without a salary. I have been a dedicated teacher without a government PIN code and without being fully recognized as a civil servant,” he stated.

Assigned to teach in challenging conditions, Mr. Mohamed has nurtured generations of students over his two decades. However, he continues to serve as a volunteer or community-paid teacher, lacking an official salary or benefits from the Ministry. “I’ve given my life to education. I’m not asking for a reward; I’m asking for fairness. I deserve a PIN code like every other teacher,” he emphasized emotionally.

His plight underscores the ongoing challenges within Sierra Leone’s education sector, highlighting the urgent need for recognition and support for dedicated educators.
