In a significant operation, the Transnational Organised Crime Unit (TOCU) raided a three-storey building on Taylor Street, Fourah Bay Road, suspected of being used for the production of kush and other harmful narcotic substances.
The operation was led by Chief Superintendent of Police Mr. M.K. Alieu, following critical intelligence provided by the Regional Commander for Freetown West, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Mr. Sylvester M.N. Koroma. Upon receiving the intelligence, AIG Koroma authorized the deployment of personnel to assist TOCU in executing the raid.
Upon tactical entry into the premises, authorities discovered a substantial cache of suspected narcotics, various liquid chemicals, gas masks, and digital scales, all strongly indicating ongoing drug manufacturing activities. Notably, the building was unoccupied at the time of the raid.
In a bid to uphold transparency and foster community engagement, local stakeholders were invited to witness the operation; however, none could provide information regarding the identity of the occupants or the ownership of the property in question.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident, working to unravel the network behind the illicit drug production.
