The Campaign for Human Rights and Development International (CHRDI) has united with the African Union’s Economic, Social and Cultural Council (ECOSOCC) and other esteemed partners in preparation for the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD4).

Scheduled for June 30 to July 3, 2025, in Seville, Spain, the conference aims to elevate the African perspective in global finance discussions. This landmark summit presents a crucial opportunity for African stakeholders to advocate for inclusive and sustainable financing strategies that reflect the continent’s realities.

CHRDI, a Sierra Leone-based civil society organization known for its governance and development advocacy, plays a pivotal role in this strategic collaboration alongside TrustAfrica and Oxfam International. Their goal is to ensure that African civil society voices are not only heard but also central in shaping the global financing agenda.

“This is not just about representation. It’s about reclaiming our place in decisions that impact the lives of millions of Africans,” stated a CHRDI spokesperson. “As global debt rises, climate change accelerates, and progress on the Sustainable Development Goals remains sluggish, the time for bold, unified African leadership is now.”

The collaboration aims to leverage insights from grassroots and civil society actors to inform Africa’s stance at FFD4, with a strong emphasis on addressing urgent financing challenges amid increasing debt burdens and climate vulnerabilities.

AU, ECOSOCC, and their partners are advocating for a development financing model that prioritizes African needs in global decision-making, calling for equity, justice, and sustainability.

As CHRDI continues to champion human rights-based development, its active participation in this high-level international platform underscores a broader commitment to ensuring that African solutions lead the continent’s future.
