The trial of Abdul Kpaka, a lecturer at Fourah Bay College (FBC), began on September 6, 2024, at the High Court of Sierra Leone in Freetown. Kpaka is accused of murdering his girlfriend, Sia Fatu Kamara, and faces two charges: murder and perverting the course of justice.

The prosecution presented its first witness, Detective Inspector Andrew N. Amara, who testified about the arrest of the accused. The prosecution counsel requested that the court set a date, time, and place for the trial and grant leave for the indictment and proofs of evidence to be served to the accused.

Justice Alhaji Momoh Jah Stevens granted the prosecution’s requests and ordered that the accused appear before the High Court on September 18, 2024, to take his plea. The indictment must be served to the accused before this date. The accused was remanded at the Male Correctional Centre at Pademba Road.
