Bio Launches Fleet of Vehicles to Boost Healthcare Access

Bo, Southern Region – President Julius Maada Bio has commissioned a fleet of vehicles and motorbikes to enhance healthcare delivery across Sierra Leone, marking a significant milestone in the country’s efforts to strengthen its health system.

The fleet, comprising 10 buses, 10 utility vehicles, 1 mobile maintenance workshop vehicle, and 450 motorbikes, aims to improve mobility for health personnel, particularly in remote and underserved communities. President Bio emphasized that the initiative is part of the government’s “300 Days of Activism” agenda, targeting zero preventable deaths and improved health outcomes.

The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to national transformation, highlighting investments in health, education, and social services. He commended the Ministry of Health for initiatives to improve working conditions for healthcare workers, including plans to construct housing for nurses and midwives.

The commissioning fulfills a key promise made by President Bio and underscores Sierra Leone’s growing capacity to manage and lead its own development. Healthcare workers are urged to uphold professionalism and work collectively toward delivering efficient and equitable healthcare services.
